Why We Exist
The concept of our organization was founded in 2021 amid a rush of post-pandemic psychological and sociological breakdowns. In this era public officials rushed to address the violent consequences of youth isolation and trauma with more structural violence. Particularly in New York City, where our organization was founded, many civic and policy leaders thought increasing police presence and lengthening sentencing was the best way to deal with gun violence caused by the pandemic's effect on youth.
With the knowledge that punitive policy does not effectively reduce crime, our organization was formed as a preventive-based solvency to youth gun and gang violence. We were originally formed under the name Society's Justice Innovations & Interventions. To intervene with justice in society through placing of innovative safety techniques such as mentorship software, passion & purpose discovery, workforce development, and policy support.
Our Vision:
We believe in the power of a future where the American Dream---the ability to be whoever you want, build whatever you want, go wherever you want, be happy, be fruitful, and multiply---should be a reality that all children born in this nation have access to, regardless of their upbring or financial disposition. However, for this to be a reality young Black boys must be able to grow old, prosperity and upward mobility cannot be tethered to the economic class of one's grandparents, public schools must be equitable, zip codes cannot be health determinants, knowledge should not be gatekept between classes, technology must not be paid to distract and corrupt our children, but rather benefit the public, and our most vulnerable children must be given exposure to different facets of life. In that America, the America we all dream of, people's pre-destined purpose in life would fuel their passions and give them a reason to want to live.
Our Mission:
To make the opportunity for the American Dream accessible to all children in our nation, regardless of their upbringing or starting point in life. Done through innovating justice.
